Surgical care for pets in North London
Sometimes it takes more than just the correct medicines, right diet and the best efforts of The Vet Whetstone’s medical Team to restore the health of your pet.
The Vet Whetstone provides a full range of surgical procedures including neutering surgery, tumour removal, dental procedures, accident and injury repair, abdominal surgery and wound reconstruction.
Theatre Suite
We have a spacious heated theatre, fully equipped with anaesthetic machine and monitoring equipment. We maintain the highest standards of cleaning to maintain the sterility of our theatre and have regular training to keep our staff up to date with the latest techniques.
Advanced Anaesthesia Techniques
We pride ourselves on gold standard anaesthesia practices, to ensure the highest level of safety for your pet. We have a multiparameter monitor to check patients heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and carbon dioxide levels. Every patient will recieve appropriate pain relief throughout their procedure, including local anaesthetic techniques where possible. They will be monitored constantly by a dedicated member of staff until they are fully awake and recovered from surgery, where our ward nurses will continue their post-operative care until discharge.
Advanced Surgical Techniques
Ana, our soft tissue surgeon, is a very experienced laparoscopist and now offers laparoscopic (keyhole) spaying at The Vet Whetstone. Laparoscopy aims to achieve the same outcomes of traditional surgical techniques however, it is minimally invasive allowing the surgeon to access the site of interest via much smaller surgical incisions than normal, in turn improving our patient’s comfort levels and recovery times. Please speak to one of our friendly reception team if you would like more information.
A full range of Diagnostic Facilities
The Vet Whetstone has excellent diagnostic facilities including ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, endoscope and in-house laboratory testing. Our labatory consists of the most up-to-date heamatology and biochemistry analysers.
